I am Queer- & ND-affirming, IFS-informed ("parts work"), and use EMDR & other body-focused therapies.
Coming to therapy can be scary! I understand how hard it can be to share your feelings with a new person, especially if you aren't even sure how you feel in the first place. Therapy is a time when every part of you is welcome. Maybe you're tired of feeling like you're always fighting or doubting yourself. Maybe you've "graduated" from CBT/DBT/talk therapy, and are now ready to understand yourself in a deeper way. Maybe you've noticed how things from the past affect your body- the sound of footsteps makes your stomach drop, that one scent makes you feel like a kid again but not in a good way. Maybe you're ready for change.

I utilize the knowledge, skills, and abilities acquired from the modalities of EMDR (Certified EMDR Therapist), CBT, DBT, and SFBT.
In the nearly 20 years I’ve spent working in the field of mental health and trauma, I’ve deeply appreciated the honor given to me when being invited on the healing journey of a survivor. I believe a strong therapeutic alliance of empathy, compassion, and hope is the key to working together to address the challenges inherent in healing from traumatic wounds. I work with a strong stance of empathy that is directed and guided by various evidenced-based modalities as well as the most recent research in the neuroscience of trauma.

I use an approach based on EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Logosynthesis, inner child-healing and mindset work.
I am the author of the book Cycle Breaker: A Guide to Transcending Childhood Trauma. In my work with clients, I use what I have learned as a trauma therapist for 25 years to support people who want to get unstuck and create a life they love. Most people don’t realize they have suffered childhood trauma, but are confused why they are angry, anxious, depressed and have unfulfilling relationships. I help people connect the dots between their current struggles and their unprocessed wounds from the past. I don't just help people with symptoms, I help them get to the root cause of their suffering, so they can enjoy sustainable change.

Integrating EMDR, parts work, and psychodynamic approaches we can begin to see a new narrative that honors the fullness of your experience and empowers you for your future.
As a fellow human in progress, I believe our greatest resource is relationship and the ability to connect with one another. It is often in the messiness of relationships we’re hurt, but it is also in relationships that we find healing.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
