Drawing on my previous experience as a youth pastor, I enjoy working with children, teenagers, and young adults. As a play therapist, I have worked extensively with children who are struggling with ADHD and trauma. I also enjoy working with couples and families, and individuals who struggle with addiction, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues and PTSD. The challenge of parenting sparks my interest and I enjoy using humor, emotion coaching, and intergenerational systemic family theories to illuminate and strengthen the resources that parents already have to offer. I believe that solutions can be found by viewing obstacles as opportunities for repair.

Everyone wants a space where they can be real and vulnerable. I create such a space where there is room for laughter, swearing, tears, and whatever else you carry with you. It all belongs here. I want to be here for you, no matter where you are. I believe the most powerful therapeutic modality is the relationship between clinician and client and I will strive to make sure that our relationship is genuine, authentic and honest.

As a therapist, I strive to provide a safe space for my clients. My idea of therapy is to join my clients where they are and walk along with them and help find the path they are searching for. Change in our lives is a process but growth and healing can occur, although it's not always easy.

I strive to be the most effective therapist I can be for my clients. For me, being effective means helping clients succeed in learning new skills, developing upon skills they already have, and reaching their goals. In other words, helping my clients get to a place where they don’t need my services anymore. Compassion for others and wanting to help people is what started me on the path to becoming a therapist, but seeing my clients grow stronger and succeed is what makes me want to come to work every day.

Everyone has occasions when they could benefit from outside assistance with a problem they are facing. Whether it's a child coping with school issues, parents' divorce, or the loss of a loved one; a teen experiencing anxiety regarding school, social issues, sports performance, or life-changing decisions; or an adult struggling with parenting, loss, depression, anxiety, or just handling a stressful situation at work. Any circumstance which causes distress in an individual's life may be a reason for making an appointment for services. I believe there is no shame in reaching out for help to make your life happier and healthier!

Are you feeling set-off by everything, easily triggered, and frustrated with everyone? Maybe it’s the opposite - you feel lonely, sad, and no one loves you. You’re tired of fighting, and you’re exhausted by all the critical comments. You want to feel supported, cared for, and accepted by your friends and family. You need others to understand “It’s not the same” and “I am not you!” You need someone to HEAR you!

I focus on trauma initially because what I have found in over 6 years of work as a trauma therapist, is that so much of our present concerns and limitations is rooted in trauma exposure and history. This lends itself to unhealthy patterns of avoidance, hypervigilance/hyperarousal, disturbance in mood and cognitions. and being inundated with intrusions and flashbacks. Many patients that have struggled with years with anxiety and or depressive episodes really have suffered from trauma that has not yet been dealt with. T Fields Trauma Therapy is for you if this describes you!

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
