Issues he commonly work with include: trauma, anxiety, depression, behavior problems, ADHD, divorce, parenting struggles, anger, grief/loss, and adjustment issues.
Are you living in Kansas and experiencing symptoms of hopelessness? anxiety? depression? Our organizational mission is to improve access to quality mental health care in the rural Kansas area, particularly Baldwin City/Lawrence/Ottawa/Gardner, and other neighboring towns. We believe, by establishing firmly planted roots within Kansas, partnering with families and local communities and organizations, providing mental health services, and connecting families with educational resources, that the path to hope can be discovered in the midst of a seemingly hopeless circumstance.

Therapy tends to be a process of change. Therefore, we have to understand how change happens. For me, change only happens as we gain a deeper understanding of what needs to be changed. Therapy then, becomes a process of exploring the events that have shaped us so that we can gain that deeper understanding. Once we have that deeper knowledge of the problem, we are better able to make decisions that will lead to positive change. It is my hope that you find the answers you are looking for and that somehow, I may assist you in the process.

Are you struggling with relational issues, chronic illness, work/life stress, a mental illness, infertility, divorce, anxiety, depression? Life, always seems to have a lot more in store than we want or feel we can handle at any given time, it seems. Navigating all of the curves some times roadblocks can be overwhelming and you may find that you need help processing and maneuvering what's coming at you. The need for a safe space to be yourself, ugly cry, and be emotionally vulnerable. Everyone and every place is not always equipped to handle what our needs are in those moments, but I hope to provide that space for you.

I specialize in working with adults and teens who have experienced trying circumstances such as abuse, trauma depression, anxiety, anger, self-contempt, and difficult relationships.
“Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future.” -Robert Schuller I’m glad that you’re here it’s the first step. This takes great courage, and you don’t have to do it alone anymore. The fight to keep going is a daily struggle. You’re sad, anxious, lack clarity in life and long for direction. Everyone else appears to have it all together. You keep asking, “Why can’t this be me?” Something positive needs to happen and soon. That’s why I’m here. Just call you’ve already made it this far. Therapeutically, we can begin to unpack the process of what needs to change. Together we can find solutions and travel the road of self-discovery

Do you struggle in your life with strong reactions to events that seem out of your control? Do you find yourself captured by anger, upset, fear, or anxiety? Have you wanted to find a way to take the difficult things that have happened in your life and somehow have them set a foundation for you to have a better, less critical connection with yourself and others around you? I know how hard it is to make real changes that will lead to lasting peace, joy and effectiveness. I also know that it is absolutely possible to change course and rebuild.

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. Those, haunted by unshakable living memories, suffering countless sleepless nights, or experiencing unexplainable panic reactions that no one understands, need not just exist and simply survive in a distorted reality where the past is still present. Too many times those who just don't get it urge you to "just get over it." Puzzled friends and family can become exhausted when all of their efforts to help fail to make enough of a difference. Frustration can grow into blaming anger, which just adds more layers of misery and self-recrimination.

I specialize in addressing issues related to depression, anxiety, stress, anger, self-harm, communication problems, and family conflict.
I have worked with adolescents in a variety of settings since 2006 and I have been doing individual and family counseling with adolescents since 2015. I also provide individual therapy to adults and I can integrate faith into therapy if that is important to you. If spirituality isn't something you want to discuss in therapy, it will not be. Ultimately, I desire to help people become who God has created them to be, whatever their beliefs are. I believe our thoughts impact how we feel. and how we feel impacts what we do, thus I am a cognitive-based therapist and very skills-focused as I help people cope with stressors and reach goals.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
