I strive to be the most effective therapist I can be for my clients. For me, being effective means helping clients succeed in learning new skills, developing upon skills they already have, and reaching their goals. In other words, helping my clients get to a place where they don’t need my services anymore. Compassion for others and wanting to help people is what started me on the path to becoming a therapist, but seeing my clients grow stronger and succeed is what makes me want to come to work every day.

Grief comes in many different forms. Maybe it is in death or due to the void of something we once cherished. With over 10 years of experience as a licensed social worker and being certified as a grief counselor, grief is my area of passion. We can not bring back what was lost but we can learn how to honor the memories and heal.

Through human connection, healing can take place. I hope to help you begin the process to improve your emotional health no matter where you are in life. As your therapist, my goal is to help you feel at home in your body, mind, and heart. I can help deconstruct and shift your “shoulds” into something that feels more authentic and meaningful to you. Sometimes all we need is a safe environment to explore primary interests, develop goals, and determine strengths and assets to move forward.

Are you feeling set-off by everything, easily triggered, and frustrated with everyone? Maybe it’s the opposite - you feel lonely, sad, and no one loves you. You’re tired of fighting, and you’re exhausted by all the critical comments. You want to feel supported, cared for, and accepted by your friends and family. You need others to understand “It’s not the same” and “I am not you!” You need someone to HEAR you!

If you are neurodivergent (Autistic, ADHD, OCD, etc.), or gender diverse (transgender, non-binary, gender-queer, etc.), LGBTQIA+, relationship diverse (polyamory, non-monogamus, etc.), people of marginalized communities (non-white, PoC, multicultured, etc.) look no further. I believe in humanity and the human experience, and understand existing in a world that is not open to diversity and accpetance and how this leads to mental health overload. I will honor your unique culture or experience and provide you with ethical therapeutic treatment that meets your needs and culture.

Stressful situations can cause anxious or depressive thoughts, irritation, or a negative view of self, which can impact your outlook and how you are interacting with others. You may feel overwhelmed and need assistance in working things out. Reaching out can be difficult, however, taking that step can lead to real opportunities for growth and acceptance. Therapy can be helpful in dealing with many issues, such as: low self-esteem, relationships and emotional boundaries, grief and loss, career changes, or caregiver burnout.

Psychoanalytic Therapists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.
How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.
Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.
Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
