I have experience in trauma based therapies, cognitive behavioral and processing therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples therapy, EMDR trained.
I specialize in working with ages 15 and up. I offer a non-judgmental space that allows clients to express themselves and be open in session. I started as an educator and then a high school counselor prior to branching off into private practice. I enjoy helping individuals work through their difficult times and grow into who they desire to be. I don’t believe that a person needs “fixed” but more that you just need support while you grow and shift during a challenging time. I also enjoy helping couples reconnect and learn how to be the best partner they can be while keeping communication and intimacy intact.

Because everyone connects and relates to experiences, people and themselves in different ways, I utilize a variety of techniques, including but not limited to: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive behavioral therapy, Somatic work, Gestalt therapy and Emotional Freedom Technique.
Hello! I believe the order and steps taken in therapy matter, walking through issues at your pace and in your timing. I work toward: integration of the person as a whole, considering and working through ineffective patterns and beliefs, walking up to, and developing skills to regulate emotionally and working to rewire/reprogram the ineffective neurological pathways established in the brain.

I am certified in A Window Between Worlds therapeutic art, cognitive behavioral therapy and Dialectical behavior therapy.
From a young age I wanted to be a therapist. My goal is to be the therapist that I needed as a child and an adult. Someone who would not only listen but really hear me, would be able to relate to me and offer skills, guidance and support to help me learn how to improve all areas of my life. Let me help you find the skills, knowledge and support you to improve your relationships, your responses, your understanding to reach success in your life. We will create a treatment plan together to help guide you to reach your goals. Setbacks happen, nobody is perfect. When they do happen, we will work through and figure out ways to modify.

Therapy is a process and for that you need a good partner. I like to look at the postitive side of psychology and help people see in them what is already there. People come to therapy for so many different reasons and it is my goal as a clinician to act as a guide for them to reach their goals.

Living with symptoms of stress, anxiety, or OCD can feel challenging and overwhelming. You may notice yourself reviewing past situations or worrying about the future. Perhaps you deal with fears about situations or events that prevent you from experiencing life to the fullest. You might engage in compulsive behaviors in an effort to alleviate stress related to intrusive thoughts. Skin picking and hair pulling (and other Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors) can also be associated with anxiety. Often these behaviors have been used for long periods of time and can feel very difficult to stop.

Are you feeling set-off by everything, easily triggered, and frustrated with everyone? Maybe it’s the opposite - you feel lonely, sad, and no one loves you. You’re tired of fighting, and you’re exhausted by all the critical comments. You want to feel supported, cared for, and accepted by your friends and family. You need others to understand “It’s not the same” and “I am not you!” You need someone to HEAR you!

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
