Hello, my name is Kimberly van Velzen. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Chemical Dependency Specialist. I am a person, a professional, that is interested in helping people learn about, discover, accept and get back to their authentic selves. My practice focuses on assisting professional individuals, stay at home parents, adolescents, couples and those affected by substance abuse or addiction.
Each person is different and thus one single approach will not work for everyone. I have strengths in guiding people utilizing Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic and Motivational Interviewing techniques.
I work by creating an environment that is calm, comfortable, inviting and nonjudgemental space. I work with each person to learn about their personal reasons, expectations, fears and anxieties related to the therapeutic process.
