My work as a Mental Health Therapist proves to be greatly meaningful and an internal motivation, as I witness those I serve make positive changes that foster their personal growth, healing, and life satisfaction. I conceptualize presenting issues through a multicultural/intersectional feminist theoretical approach that recognizes the implications of environmental stressors/systems of oppression, and viewing the client as the expert of their own life and personal narrative. I utilize methods from multiple therapies including CBT, REBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, ACT, and Relational Therapy.
Populations I have experience working with include those struggling with emotional disorders such as anxiety, depression, trauma and disordered eating. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds/ intersectional identities and utilize a multiculturally sensitive approach to therapy.
I was raised in South Florida suburban area, by immigrant parents who migrated from Jamaica. Often one of the few POC in my classes, I soon adopted the many personal values that my parents instilled in me such as integrity, resourcefulness, resilience, community, and gratitude, that developed my character, identity and self-efficacy to navigate life.
