As a licensed therapist in a rural community, I believe a clinician should be flexible and diverse in training. My practice represents that diversity and strives to meet the individual needs of my clients. My training is clinical in nature and offers a variety of interventions that assist the client in exploring core beliefs that may inhibit the individual to move forward in life. I utilize a strengths-based perspective that creates a platform of acceptance and understanding to assist the client from remaining "stuck" in their blocking belief systems.
Specifically, my training includes Trauma Focused techniques to safely explore an individual's belief systems. In addition, I am trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a safe technique that assists the client in processing traumatic and/or negative memories.
Most disorders, such as anxiety and depression, are related to negative experiences from earlier years. Utilizing techniques that gently redirect an individuals perception can create lasting results of healing and peace. Engaging in mindfulness techniques outlined in interventions such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) also assist in the healing process.
