The mass of men (and women) lead lives of quiet desperation (Henry David Thoreau). But do we have to? As children we are often not allowed to make important decisions about our life and some suffer attachment issues and other forms of trauma that are outside of our control. Therapy is an active choice we can make as adults. It provides a sacred place where you can feel safe to ask yourself the most important questions: who am I? what do I want? who and what do I love? how do I want to spend my precious life? Change is not easy. Growth and learning is a life long process. It is never too late to become your authentic self.
I worked for three years doing community mental health with people with severe and persistent mental illness, trauma and substance abuse issues, They taught me to go fast by going slow and that rapport and respect are everything. I use Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and Internal Family Systems informed therapy to help you make changes you desire.
It takes courage and persistence to make the changes you want and need in your life. Deciding to come to therapy and finding a therapist you are comfortable working with can be an important first step, I will meet you halfway and work as hard as you do to help you identify and build the life and relationships you want to have with yourself and others.
