I have been working as a psychotherapist for 16 years. I primarily saw individual clients in outpatient clinics until 2012, but I also developed an interest in working with couples since starting my private practice 13 years ago. Individual therapy still accounts for the majority of my client caseload, as I specialize in alleviating depression, anxiety, mood regulation, substance/alcohol use, and communication difficulties. I primarily use the treatment modalities of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and narrative therapy, but establishing a therapeutic alliance is most important to start.
I received my master's degree from Simmons College. I earned a post-graduate certificate in Cognitive and Behavioral Interventions from Boston University. I attended Harvard Medical School trainings in couples therapy, anxiety, and mindfulness. I completed trainings on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and treatment methods for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
I was a teacher for 7 years before transitioning to psychotherapy in 2007, starting as an intern at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. I was a psychotherapist at North Suffolk Mental Health from 2008-2014, transitioning to be a Clinical Supervisor in 2014, Program Manager in 2016, and Program Director in 2018. I opened my private practice in 2012.
