My name is Kevin Larkin. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist living in Hawaii but providing telehealth in the great state of California. I work with adults 18 and over, using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement, Desensitization, and Reprocessing (EMDR). I typically work with adults who are dealing with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, and life transitions. My focus in sessions is to help you build new coping strategies, improve communication skills, and work with you to discover new ways of being that allow you to reach your full potential as a human being.
My approach to therapy is collaborative in nature. Both ACT and EMDR work best when there is a “team” working together to create the life you would like to see. I believe that each of us has the ability to heal whether it is physical or psychological and that belief influences how I approach therapy as a whole.
My communication style is warm, collaborative, and caring. I strive to create an environment where you are comfortable enough to talk about whatever you have on your mind and provide an atmosphere of acceptance and non-judgment to do that in. I can, when needed, be direct and directive but it always comes from a place of compassion.
