Habari & Karibu (Hello & Welcome in Swahili). In addition to working with individuals of various ages, I am also very passionate about working with young adults. These early years of adulthood can be a time of tremendous change, uncertainty, and anxiety. The foundation of my clinical practice is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a strength based approach. I also use a systems approach as we are often navigating life through a maze of different systems, which may include family, friends, school, jobs, organizations, and more. Despite a long career that began in 1995, I remain incredibly motivated about the work I do.
In addition to my years of professional experience and clinical training, personal experiences such as being a parent, coach, musician, and former collegiate athlete (4-year Division I tennis player) impacts my clinical practice. For example, I believe Sports & The Arts are valuable strenghts and tools that can add to the therapeutic process.
Therapy is not something that has to be indefinite. Whether therapy occurs over an extended period of time or is short-term, it is a collaborative relationship, where the therapist supports & motivates individuals, who are the captain of their own ship, to identify & achieve measurable goals as part of their recovery to increase hope, strength, & resiliency
