I believe in the adaptive healing power that is innate in all of us. A large part of our negative reactions and self-defeating behavior come from the unconscious, that is outside of our reasoning and willpower. By tapping directly into the unconscious and changing the way some memories are stored in the brain, we can stop reacting and begin responding in an adaptive manner. As a licensed psychologist, I have worked with children and adolescents and their families for the past 20 years. I would love to guide you in your journey of self-discovery and wellness.
I specialize in working with a neurobiological and evidence-based approach, called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). With EMDR, positive changes occur faster than traditional talk therapy, and all the work is done in treatment sessions. EMDR works by reprocessing memories that have kept you stuck in the past.
I'm a bilingual Korean/English speaking psychologist, and enjoy working with the 1.5 generation. I taught psychology as an assistant professor, and have extensive research experience in the areas of adolescent peer relationships, self-esteem, school adjustment, and alcohol use. I practice yoga and love dogs and beaches.
