I recognize that people often have many different types of trauma in their lives. Trauma comes in all shapes and sizes and may be interpreted differently by each individual. Traumatic issues can range from bullying, loss of friendship, transitions of all types, to devastating life events. I have provided care to adolescents and adults suffering from emotional disturbances, as a result of trauma and loss. Subsequently these disturbances will interfere with school, work, and relationships and may ultimately prevent one from living a fulfilling life.
I utilize techniques from both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectal Behavior Therapy - to include core mindfulness skills - helping a person identify strengths, thoughts, beliefs, and assumptions that can make life more difficult.
I enjoy working with clients who are motivated to improve their lives using a fresh approach and a fresh set of tools. My belief is that for treatment to be successful it is essential to keep the family actively involved and collaborate with school professionals and other providers.
