When I was in my twenties, I saw a psychotherapist who was silent like the Sphinx and wasted a lot of my time. Then I saw another who was practical, collaborative and, in effect, saved my life. I’ve modeled myself of the second. I listen, talk and believe you'll know in not too long if we're on the right track. Psychotherapy works on many levels: getting things off your chest and true transformation: moving past the psychological habits and pattens that may be slowing you down.
I find that in psychotherapy we'll look back to figure things out but not to retraumatize. This is so important and what we might call post-Freudian. We'll look forward. Your past is mainly relevant not in itself but in how it's landing in the present and affecting you now. Our main focus, the quality of your life in the present.
I’m the author of two life-mentoring books on parents, relationships and career.
