I'm Kelsey Hopson-Shiller and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I think everyone should go to therapy because therapy makes life easier! I provide a warm, non-judgmental environment for my clients to work on the places where they feel like they're struggling. I work with individuals- especially members of the LGBTQIA+ community- of all ages. I do most of my work with members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I primarily see adults currently, but I have a lot of experience (and really enjoy) working with teens and young adults as well.
I do a lot of work with clients who are experiencing anxiety or other mood-related issues as well as struggles with relationships (romantic/friends/family) and work or school. I come from a systems-focused, strengths-based perspective. I use mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques.
I try to create a really comfortable environment and I let the client lead. I will use humor whenever it's appropriate as I point out areas for growth or reflection. I focus on building strong rapport because I believe the best work happens in an environment where a client knows they can trust me- even when the work itself is uncomfortable.
