Kels Savage, LSW (She/Her) is a Licensed Social Worker dedicated to working with LGBTQ young people and their families. With a strong commitment to providing a space for LGBTQ youth that fosters understanding, acceptance and self-reflection, Kels draws on a young people’s strengths, helping them to explore and determine what they need to feel at ease with themselves and among their peers and families. Kels is a graduate of Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, CUNY where she obtained her MSW in 2017. She also holds a BFA from Brooklyn College (summa cum laude).
LGBTQ young people are at increased risk for depression, anxiety, substance use, and/or relationship issues with peers and family, Kels approaches those mental health concerns with the goal of improved mental health, self-esteem and connections with others.
As a queer therapist, Kels understands the challenges are unique to LGBTQ youth. Utilizing her varied experiences as an LGBTQ clinician and community organizer, she empowers and encourages LGBTQ youth and their families/caregivers to build knowledge, tools and skills to solve problems, navigate systems and flourish individually and within healthy dynamics.
