I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes therapy is a collaborative approach and we will work together to achieve your goals. At your initial appointment, we will spend time exploring the issues you'd like to address and begin to identify some of your goals that you look forward to achieving. Our collaborative approach will help to build a therapeutic relationship based on trust and confidence so that you feel safe and open to work through challenges using different skills, tools and techniques. I practice cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and incorporate solution-focused and existential models into treatment.
I also have experience using Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I often utilize Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) to address flawed cognitions because we are typically unaware of our deeply imbedded irrational thoughts and how they affect us on a day-to-day basis. The techniques utilized in the therapeutic process are tailored to each client.
I will build on the client’s strengths and help them work towards healing and wellness. I feel it is most important to create a nonjudgmental, empathetic and supportive environment for the client to explore and express themselves.
