I practice from a trauma informed and relational cultural perspective that places high value on the relationship between therapist and client. Through an authentic, mutual, and collaborative approach I help my clients focus on the history of their relationships and how these relationships have lead to growth and fulfillment and/or isolation and suffering. I view every person as inherently whole and thus aim to lighten the emotional burdens that leave individuals feeling incomplete, broken, and/or dispirited.
Disconnection is exacerbated by interpersonal, institutional, familial, and/or cultural abuses of power in relationship. Thus I am aware that clients need to be respected, informed, and connected throughout the process of therapy. I am formally trained in Internal Family Systems which aids in reducing power dynamics between therapist and client.
My areas of expertise Internal Family Systems Model, Post Traumatic Stress, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer or Questioning issues, Gender Identity Development, Recovery from domestic violence, sexual assault, and hate crime, anxiety, depression, adjustment to life transitions and loss, and stress management and mindfulness.
