I believe that well-being is a right not a privilege and that everyone is hungry for meaning, purpose and connection. The absence of these things can lead to disorder and dysfunction. The greatest gift of being a therapist is helping people of all ages let go of unhealthy coping skills and cultivate an authentic, full life. In my practice, I focus on the specific needs and goals of the individual, couple or family. Through story, intervention, tools, and feedback I help my clients address the issues that are preventing them from moving forward in their lives and ultimately to reclaim their true selves.
As an eating disorder specialist, I conceptualize these disorders as relational/attachment issues and focus on the underlying functions the behaviors have served. I help support clients to identify more adaptive ways of being in the world and with others. And ultimately to heal their relationship with themselves.
I am also certified as a Daring Way Facilitator based on the ground-breaking work of Brené Brown. This process has changed me as a person and as a clinician. Her curriculum about vulnerability, shame and wholehearted living informs all of my current work with clients.
