Adolescents rock! Adolescence sucks... As the adult emerges, the need to separate and individuate is primal and the ensuing metamorphosis affects all important relationships. Adapting to the rights and responsibilities of the emerging adult can be confusing and frustrating and make for multitudes of conflicts. As a therapist, I am pragmatic and practical, look for ways to support the process of growing up, teach necessary skills to increase interpersonal effectiveness and mindful self-care. My goal is to help individuals understand their needs and as to achieve a sense of fulfillment and independence necessary to satisfying living.
Adolescents and families have the lion share of my practice. I invite clients to identify which symptoms interfere with successfully participating in their own life and ally with them to determine how to overcome these obstacles. Identifying strengths is a priority as it is the best tool available.
Therapy is a process of self-exploration which is scary, and rarely successful when attempted alone. Together we discover and modify the approach to obstacles interfering with achieving full potential. Gaining a better understanding of needs increases the ability to be happy and content in the present and the future.
