I have extensive experience with intimate partner violence/narcissistic abuse recovery, eating disorders, overachievers who are exhausted and want big change, traditionally marginalized people (BIPOC/LGBTQ/etc), family secrets, adoption/foster care, pre & post adoption search/reunion, DNA discoveries, identity distress, and overlapping issues
If you're telling yourself you should be able to get better on your own, that's actually not true. It's a made up rule you're telling yourself and it's rooted in stigma.
