Katie holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. She has counseling experience in private practice and community mental health settings. Prior to joining GROW, Katie worked for several years in private foster care and adoption agencies, serving foster families, adoptive families, and birth parents. Katie is passionate about helping adoptive parents navigate the complexity and privilege of raising adopted children in a way that honors their history, loss, and biological family. Additionally, Katie is a certified Trust Based Relational Intervention Practitioner.
Katie views counseling as a partnership between the client and therapist. With empathy and compassion, she hopes to create an environment in each session that allows clients to be honest with themselves and work through their concerns. Using counseling theories, Katie customizes her approach to meet the needs and goals of each client.
