Therapy is a place where you should feel safe, affirmed, and seen for all that you are. I work with individuals and couples, and specialize in working with survivors of trauma and interpersonal violence. Survivors have developed highly protective patterns, skills, and habits that previously kept them emotionally and physically safe. These patterns can be healthy and adaptive, and sometimes they can lead to difficulties and ongoing distress. My approach to therapy is to help people identify and understand their emotions, get to the root of what is causing distress, and to build new patterns and skills to navigate life's challenges.
Trauma work can involve navigating anxiety, depression, poor self-image, grief, and struggles with trust. I work with teens and adults with diverse, multicultural, LGBTQIA+ identities, and value exploring the impact of trauma on identity. I practice Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and utilize narrative and interpersonal approaches.
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, and choosing a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and safe is an important decision in the healing process. If you are interested in seeing if my therapy style is a good fit for you, please reach out so we can discuss what you hope to gain from therapy, your needs, and how we can work together towards your goals.
