I am a cognitive-behavioral therapist, and I have expertise in the use of mindfulness-based treatments including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and the treatment of trauma. I see a wide variety of clients in my practice, including individuals struggling with symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD), depression, and anxiety disorders. I also work with survivors of trauma, including physical and sexual abuse and assault. I believe that effective treatment begins with a collaborative relationship with my clients.
DBT is a form of CBT that focuses on teaching clients to better regulate their emotions. Our clients often talk about feeling like their emotions "run the show." Our treatment goals are often about helping clients to feel that they can control their emotions, rather than their emotions controlling them.
I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nevada, and joined Durham DBT after completing my clinical internship at Duke University Medical Center. I am also credentialed through PSYPACT, which allows me to provide virtual services in participating states. I have extensive training in evidenced-based therapy and in clinical research.
