I work with individuals and couples with a range of presenting problems such as anxiety, depression, parenting and relationship issues. My style is to actively engage in a non-judgmental way, always sensitive to creating an environment of trust in our sessions. Therapy helps you look at yourself through a different lens so that you can understand the conflicts and distress that present in your life, and use that insight to change.
An Emotionally Focused Couple (EFT) Therapist sees problems through an attachment perspective: What gets in the way of emotional connection to others? Do we get caught up in repetitive negative cycles? How are emotions communicated? Often our needs go unmet. In therapy we go deeper into attachment longings and and obstacles to being heard.
I have over 25 years experience as a psychodynamic psychotherapist. I previously worked in the counseling center at Stony Brook University, and with families at the former Pederson-Krag Ctr.
