I am Kaitlyn Luperchio, LPC, LCDC, and National Certified Trauma Therapist. I have an extensive background working with children- having jobs in education stemming from being a paraprofessional, teacher, and school counselor. I have also counseled and served as case manager for adults in the justice system, who were recently released from incarceration and on probation/parole. I've been told I create a professional, yet comfortable environment for clients. Many of my clients are new to therapy, and they are surprised at how reliable, safe, and nonjudgmental spaces can help them process their issues.
When we are establishing goals, I let the client take the lead. If they're unsure of goals, we review assessment answers and inquire about everyday life and I used solution-focused 'Miracle Question' to help. Goals should be appropriate to client needs, and throughout treatment, I always try to connect the topic of discussion back to the goal stated.
During intake, I like to know more about the client's background, and also how they're presenting emotionally and mentally the day of. Clients can expect follow-up questions about the referral, possible inventories to be completed, and the opportunity to ask me anything about therapy or my professional background.
