My training in Psychodynamic and Jungian therapy, coupled with experience in diverse therapeutic settings, has molded my approach to be both insight-oriented and skills-based, person-centered and collaborative, depthful and lighthearted.
The heart of my work is providing a safe and supportive space for you to freely express and explore your inner world. With this foundation, we can examine the emotions, thoughts, behaviors, or experiences that are creating distress in your life. Feelings like sadness, anxiety, shame, anger, and relational conflicts invite us to listen closely and learn from the important stories they carry. Together, we can work to identify the root causes of your struggles, and develop new ways of relating to yourself, your story, and the world around you, giving way to lasting relief and a meaningful and authentic life.

Starting therapy is a significant and courageous step towards nurturing your mental well-being. In my practice, I specialize in two distinct areas, each with deep personal and professional meaning. First, I am passionate about working with neurodiverse individuals, couples, and families. I am a dedicated advocate of the neurodiversity model, which views ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, and other neurodivergent traits as natural variations within the human spectrum. I believe that embracing these differences, rather than pathologizing them, allows for a more compassionate and empowering approach to therapy.

My approach to therapy aims at providing relational safety and an open environment, where we can explore and discover inner authenticity and acceptance. Much of the distress we experience as humans has deep emotional roots, and through compassion and the cultivation of relationship comes healing and regaining of one’s peace and autonomy.

I'm a clinical psychologist practicing with those who suffer from loneliness, anxiety, obsessions, trauma, anger, aloofness, issues of identity and intimacy, difficult life circumstances, and many other problems. While I greatly value knowledge about psychopathology, I find a strictly diagnosis-based approach to be limiting. Instead, we might be curious together about the many aspects of life that bear on your particular suffering. This broad exploration and discovery can only happen in a safe and confidential relationship. I feel so privileged when someone chooses to reveal themselves to me on these deeply personal levels.

I am a passionate nature enthusiast and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families who are interested in furthering their development and reaching a deeper understanding of their own, authentic being. I believe that we are more than our emotions and behaviors–we are complex people that require introspection and the honor of a unique and individualized path to healing. Through the exploration of stories and patterns (both current and past), I assist clients in coming into a deeper understanding and ease with the self.

Failing to get help, many divorced people regret that they gave up too soon. As a marriage specialist for over two decades, you can trust that you are in the care of a competent advocate for your marriage. Every marriage faces the power struggle -it's supposed to happen. Too many quit their marriage at this crucial time. Not giving yourselves the opportunity to work through this painful stage could be a tragedy because this very stage carries the seeds of true character growth and healing. An affair, dishonesty, conflict, or stress can rob you of the feelings of attunement.

Few of us make it through childhood without having experienced trauma of one form or another. Often times, the adaptations that we make in order to best survive early life challenges, lead to patterns of belief and action which get in the way of us finding freedom, happiness, and fulfillment as adolescents and adults. Every person deserves an opportunity to grow to their greatest potential. Therapy is a facilitated process of increasing awareness of obstacles to growth and supporting transformation.

Hi, my name is Shelly Lopeman. I have a passion for therapy and what it can do for a person and their healing. My philosophy is that each one of us has a purpose and we are striving to achieve many of the same basic needs which are to be loved, to be accepted, to gain self-efficacy, and to realize that we have the ability to heal within.

Jungian Therapists

How does Jungian therapy work?

Jungian therapy, also called analytical psychology, focuses on a patient’s inner experiences and unconscious mind. Exploring a person’s unconscious mind can be achieved through several means, including the analysis of memories and dreams, and through physical exercises, such as art, dance, and word association.

How long does Jungian therapy last?

Jungian therapy is an intensive treatment type. Because its goal is to understand a person as a whole, including the unconscious aspects of them, treatment can range from months to years. Since patients learn the theory behind Jungian therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have completed.

Is Jungian therapy effective?

According to studies, many patients find success with Jungian therapy, and the century-old treatment has a devoted following. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Improvements in problem areas seem to continue even after the end of Jungian therapy, as people are able to continue working on themselves using the tools they’ve learned during the treatment.

Is Jungian therapy evidence-based?

Jungian therapy is theory-based, derived from the theories of Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist often called one of the fathers of psychology, along with Sigmund Freud. Jung developed his theories from observing the problems of patients, and developed many theories of how the mind works. Subsequent psychological research has determined that Jungian therapy can lead to significant improvement in most patients.
