I seek to set my clients at ease in a comfortable setting so that they can tell their story in a nurturing and non-judgmental setting. Only then can we begin to focus on what they want to accomplish: setting realistic goals for both personal and professional success. I believe that this is done best with a sense of humor, as laughter is the best medicine! I show my clients that therapy can be as fun and as productive as they want it to be, where your thoughts and feelings are taken very seriously, and where what you put in is what you get out!
Psychodynamic theory focuses on "family of origin" issues, and cognitive-behavioral theory examines ones "core beliefs." Once "outdated" beliefs are examined and updated, behavior changes can start to occur. My style is very interactive so that one may be a better student of themselves to examine and make better key life decisions. Homework can be included.
My ability to use humor, immediately set one at ease, quickly discern "with" the client their growth areas, and help to construct appropriate measures for real steps and solutions is invaluable to raising one's self-esteem in the first session and onward.

Groups
Building Happier Relationships
Clients benefit from positive and contructive group feedback as to how they are perceived by others and helpful interventions are suggested. This group teaches group memebers how to create and build successful relationships with same gender and opposite gender with a focus initially on getting to know oneself and building rapport with group members, often relationships formed in group therapy last as a support system once group is over. Clients learn that they have a set of strengths and weaknesses and learn best how to use these in the context of healthy relationships.
