When things aren't going well and don't seem to be getting better, when you feel alone and disconnected, stressed, not good enough, angry or ashamed, resentful, or have been deeply hurt, you naturally try to ease that discomfort, but not always in the most helpful ways. Often, problematic thought patterns and behaviors arise from natural coping mechanisms that helped you get through difficult times, but are no longer helpful and are in fact now causing greater harm. Navigating all of this can be hard and at times, overwhelming.
As a psychotherapist, my goal is to provide a compassionate, supportive, and confidential space to help individuals who are struggling with life's challenges. I primarily employ a strengths-based, psychodynamic approach, but often weave in CBT, MI, mindfulness, EMDR and other tools, catered to an individual's needs.
You have many parts all working to try to help you survive; the parts which are currently causing you distress likely grew as something which initially felt helpful, even necessary. Even if those difficult parts are the loudest right now, they do not have to define you. Change is possible. Balance and healing are possible. I'm here to help.
