I began my career as a school psychologist supporting the emotional and behavioral needs of children and families, many with trauma histories. In 2023, I expanded my practice by obtaining my Perinatal Mental Health Certification, with the goal of helping soon-to-be and new mothers navigate the perinatal period. Matrescence, the transformative process of becoming a mother, can be a time of great beauty and self-discovery, but it also often brings with it deep pain and difficulty. It is a time of intense psychological, physical, and emotional change and many experience shifts in their relationships and self-identity.
As such, many new moms feel overwhelmed with the adjustment to motherhood, may need to process through birth trauma, and/or they may experience postpartum mood symptoms such as depression/anxiety. I am also uniquely qualified as a school psychologist to support mothers and parents of children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder and others.
I believe that with trustworthy support and a strong therapeutic relationship, new moms can learn to break free of unhelpful patterns of thinking, reduce negative symptoms, and find ways to experience joy and confidence during this monumental transformation that is motherhood. Galvin Growth Group
Galvin Growth Group is a diverse practice of therapists with specialized backgrounds, including children & adolescents, adults, adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, ADHD & executive functioning, alcohol and substance abuse. We do psychological evaluations as well. Many of our therapists have a background in K-12 education, they help children thrive both in school and in their personal lives. Some therapists specialize in working with adults, including individuals, couples, and adults with addiction issues.
