As a therapist who was born and raised in Hong Kong, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse clients of all backgrounds. I understand the unique challenges faced by children of immigrants, particularly those identifying as Asian American or emerging adults. Asian Americans often struggle with establishing a sense of belonging, internalized judgment of their thoughts, actions, and persistent feelings of inadequacy or shame. It can be challenging to exist between two or more different cultural norms, values, traditions, languages, familial obligations, social dynamics, and more.
I am trained in Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Mindfulness. Through collaborative conversations and questions, we will learn how to communicate and advocate for your needs, disrupt unhelpful thought patterns, and develop practical habits that promote a life of authenticity and autonomy.
Embracing cultural sensitivity, I view therapy as a collaborative process in which you are the expert on your lived experiences. I believe that we are multifaceted beings and I strive to create a culturally affirming space where your values, experiences, and identities are treated with careful consideration and respect.
