I like people and enjoy getting to know and understand them. There are many ways we can get stuck or get weighed down in life issues. It is exciting for me to assist others in finding ways to get on with living. I believe this occurs when a client feels comfortable in the relationship with their therapist. As a therapist, my first task is to provide a safe environment for a person to experience themselves in new ways.
I have trained in a variety of therapies, and find a client's belief systems at times determines which type of therapy we choose to work with at first. At times a combination of therapeutic approaches works best.
Although I have not been through traumas as many of my clients have. I worked with Veterans for 40 plus years, dealing with not only military but childhood trauma. Working with these experiences and severely traumatized people have had a profound effect in my life. Pain whether physical or psychological is pain, and can be addressed.
