I am Joyce Bengal. Monarca Counseling is my multicultural practice open to adults. If you are ready to let go of the drug or feeling that has a hold on you, and create a life, I am here as your Change Agent. As a therapist with over 30 years of experience working through agencies, shelters, juvenile facilities, and prisons, I continue to address anxiety and depression, trauma, gender id and racism. Using: CBT, behavioral and psychodynamic, motivational interviewing and expressive therapies. And bring teaching experience at Tuskegee Institute, Miles College and Tufts Experimental College to my practice.
I can help by being present in the course of our work together: individual, couple, in a group. My role is to teach you the tools of change I learned at Harvard and ongoing education in both mental health and substance abuse, and the Street. We will proceed at a pace that feels right for you.

Relapse Prevention
Group will offer tool to help you to stay clean/sober. Support provided by group members. All encouraged to attend worldwide & FREE NA/AA/GA/SA meetings for the discipline. Court, Probation and Parole referrals accepted. Needs 5 participants to start. A minimum of 10 sessions required of ongoing group.

Anger Management
Group for those who act out on anger in inappropriate ways hurtful to themselves and/or others. Group work focuses on changing the way you think and react using DBT tools to help you alter your responses. And may utilize creative therapies as well. Limited to 10 participants. Minimum of 5 needed to start a group. Sessions are virtual provided through Psychology Today platform easily accessed.
