My ideal client is seeking therapy because they are feeling sad. It almost feels like depression. The client is not sure how to stop feeling this way. They also don't know why they are feeling this way. They want to learn what is making them feel sad. The client would like to learn strategies to help identify triggers and learn coping skills to decrease the depression.
I would use CBT combined with SFBT. CBT would help the brain to understand what depression is. CBT would help the client modify his/her/their unhelpful thinking patterns associated with the depression. SFBT will assist the client in finding healthy solutions to his/her/their target goal.
