A collaboration, this collaborative process allows clients to retake control of their thoughts, emotions and behaviors and work to change the direction of their lives. I have been a therapist providing counseling to individuals and families for over 20 years. My background includes concentrated work with individuals struggling with mental illness, anxiety, life transitions, family relationships, sexuality, gender identity, trauma, self-esteem, depression, and anger. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, non-profits, outpatient community mental health centers and private practice.
I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and emotion-focused counseling to assist clients in exploring emotional hurdles, reframing negative views of self, challenging, and diminishing unproductive behaviors. The Foremost focus is to develop tangible coping skills. However, above all I communicate directly, I always ask permission to address any topic.
When thinking about how to guide the treatment process. I think about the understanding of a person’s life experiences, struggles, and how do they may view the world. Understanding these are key to coping with life’s challenges with a wholistic approach. I provide my clients with a safe and open space to explore the things they want to better understand.
