I believe that the relationship you have with your therapist will be the number one determining factor for the success of your sessions. If this was not met in previous sessions, then, rightfully so, you may be avoiding talking to a therapist. I hope to be the therapist for people who don't like talking to a therapist!
I primarily use a person-centered approach in therapy, which means I strive to meet you where you are in each session. I implement a trauma-focused integrated approach (including CBT, emotion-focused, and family systems theory) to help clients process their past experiences in an accepting and safe way.
I have found that you may be in 2 groups: you have had bad experiences with therapy or you don't know what it can be for you yet.
