Whether you are new to counseling or have previous experiences as a client in psychotherapy, I am glad you have found your way here. I work with adults in individual counseling on issues related to anger, anxiety, depression, and the effects of adverse childhood experiences - issues that can affect our relationships with ourselves, our friends, partners, spouses, and families. I also work with clients in relationship and family counseling to enhance communication, commitment, and connection, and to help navigate difficult relationship issues.
My style as a therapist is a unique blend of structured and organic. As a professor, I lean toward structured approaches. I am trained in EMDR therapy and I work from a variety of approaches including CBT, DBT, ACT, and Gottman Method. I also embrace an organic, warm, and supportive approach, which I attribute to my years as a husband, father, and therapist.
