To be a therapist is to be a co-laborer of change. I believe in getting in the trenches with my clients to work on the tough stuff. My greatest joy is watching clients leave my office having their awesome, life changing ah ha moments! Let's face it, sometimes in life we get stuck. Rightfully so, life is hard and sometimes we need help picking up the pieces with no judgment about our past. I believe that when we invite those stuck parts of us in to be learned and understood then, consistent progress is inevitable.

I can help any person who has lost the thread of meaning in their life. A person who might even be asking themselves, What is the point of continuing on? There might be past traumas, depression and/or anxiety, perhaps harmful behaviors they can't seem to shake. There might be a great deal of fear. But ultimately, they need a fresh perspective on what it means for them to be alive, and to regain the sense that their choices matter.

Life can be full of joy, even with all the stress of the day to day. Working towards building skills to support a life worth living is the main goal I have for my clients. I love working with couples who are trying hard to make things work and keep experiencing conflict. Using the Gottman method, I help to give specific skills to apply to their relationship and end the gridlock. I also really enjoy teens who are struggling with finding their way. They hold a special place in my heart and I love seeing them grow and feel more confident in who they are.

Life can often leave us feeling stuck, anxious, or overwhelmed. Many times, we know the steps we should take, yet struggle to truly believe in ourselves and move forward. Our fears and worries can hijack our rational thinking, keeping us from living as our authentic selves. These challenges, whether small or life-altering, can affect our relationships, self-worth, and overall sense of peace. But there’s hope. I believe that self-awareness and self-compassion are the keys to unlocking real transformation.

Every person has their own history and their own struggles. They have their own ways of dealing with these struggles and sometimes they simply need help. I find great joy in helping people through difficult times. I specialize in trauma related issues such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression. I like to work with clients at their own pace, gently and compassionately. I offer both in person and online appointments. I like to think of the first appointment as a time for you to decide if you think that we might be a good match.

If you're in need of significant change but feel stuck, you may benefit from collaboration with a professional to help you move forward. I offer an individualized, practical and evidence-based approach. Together, we will examine your core values and beliefs, behavior patterns and relationship dynamics, to address how they work together to affect your daily life.

I always say its important to go 'therapist shopping', because finding someone who you truly connect with will play a huge part in just how impactful therapy can be for you. Whether you are struggling with relationships, people pleasing, self-esteem, or just managing all of the crazy things life throws your way, I am committed to providing a safe space where you feel seen, heard, and understood.

I aim to tailor my therapeutic approach to your individual needs and circumstances. Therapy should be about YOU and starts with compassion and understanding. I am a specialist who works with adults and teens ages 14+ on intense anxiety, trauma and complex trauma, dissociation, and personality disorders. My clients come in saying they feel numb and irritable or outright angry at the world. They feel like they are in constant fight or flight mode and teetering on collapse. They want to be able to authentically connect with others and to feel peace and contentment, but are not sure how. Most importantly, my clients want to solve their problems, stop repetitive patterns, and move on with with their lives.

Counseling provides an opportunity for people to explore areas of their lives and relationships that may feel dissatisfying, difficult, or even painful. It takes courage for us to look at parts of ourselves and our relationships that are troubling, especially when we're not sure exactly where to begin or what's not feeling quite right. Therapy is a journey, a path toward developing a connection to our own deepest knowing and inner strengths. With increased awareness and internal supports, we feel more hope, strength and freedom to live as fully as possible.

In my practice, I work with adults and teens who are experiencing or have experienced trauma (PTSD) or unresolved grief in their lives. Trauma can affect relationships, friendships, marriages and parenting. It can significantly impact how we cope from day to day. Unfortunately, such issues that have been ignored may keep coming up and can haunt us at the most inopportune times. I am continually amazed at how resilient the human mind and spirit can be with just some intentional focus on those areas of life.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
