It can be difficult to manage “all the things” and making time for oneself can be easily sacrificed. While it is understandable, it can be considered an act of resistance to set aside place for your whole self and healing. One hour, a place for you to show up, to rediscover the self, parts changed and altered over time; explore the “stuff” in your soul. Therapists, couples, and women are specialties of mine. If you are seeking couples counseling, it can be difficult to grow into your full, whole selves together, but it is also worth the hard work to show up as your whole self, and honor your partner’s whole self.
Sometimes, we all need a little support and help to do the rewarding hard work. I use metaphor and analogy to engage clients A LOT. An example from a recent session I’ve used: “You are a slinky! You can be at more than one level or step in your life.” I started in community mental health, and my passion has always been a systems approach.
I have a background in play, with children, but my training has always been focused on systems, family, and couples. I utilize systems theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solutions focused therapy. I have also been trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 2). I'm licensed in both Indiana and Colorado.
