In my many years as a social worker, I have worked extensively with children who struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and anger. I have helped many young people on the autism spectrum. I’m drawn to working with the younger population because, despite the troubles they’re having, their youth allows for a resilience that helps them overcome their hardships. It is a supportive, understanding, and humorous adult who can make a difference in a child’s life and their family’s life, and I find it a privilege to work in that role.
I use humor, creativity and compassion to help children make better sense of their world. I have spent many years perfecting my play therapy technique, recently discovering that it can work effectively even in teletherapy. My empathy and caring allows me to see the world through a child's eyes, allowing for greater communication and understanding.
People in pain feel alone. One of my greatest skills is the ability to break through barriers to create an encouraging and supportive relationship.
