Domestic Violence-When it Hurts to Help the Victim
"When it Hurts to Help the Victim": Burnout Prevention and Recovery for Family Helpers of Domestic Violence Victims. An abundance of counseling and mental health resources exist for victims of domestic violence, and even their offenders. However, a care gap exists for family members who are regularly trying to help their loved one's escape the cycle of abuse, incurring secondary trauma and helper burnout in the process. This group is designed to fill the care gap for overlooked family helpers of DV victims. This is a 10 week virtual group composed of 11 participants that runs from October-December.
