Before private practice I worked for UTMB-CMC within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. I have a passion working with serious mental health issues, but working in TDCJ reinforced a desire to focus more on earlier interventions, eventually leading leaving to begin my private practice. My specialties include treating psychosis spectrum, mood, and personality disorders, however I also have experience working with adjustment, anxiety, complicated grief, trauma related, obsessive compulsive, and substance use.
I primarily utilize (ACT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and (DBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I do not seek to pathologize normal behaviors or difficult and unwanted parts of the human experience. It’s a lot easier to change what we do instead of who we are, even if it’s only who we think we are.
There are many things that make asking for help hard. My door is always open to clients. Even if you determine that my office is not the best fit, my goal is to assist you in finding the help you need for your journey.
