I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor specializing in providing family and individual counseling for children and young adults between the ages of 3 and 21. I have over 15 years experience working with children and families, specifically with foster children and families involved with DCYF and DJJS. I have specialized training and experience working with children who have experienced trauma and who are diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder in addition to treating children and families with a wide variety of emotional and behavioral issues such as anxiety, depression, OCD, and ADHD.
I utilize an attachment-focused, family-centered therapeutic approach called Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP). DDP is an attachment-based, developmental perspective that also integrates aspects of other treatment modalities such as psychodynamic principles, psychodrama, Theraplay, and family therapy. I also utilize cognitive-behavioral techniques and client-centered, strength-based principals.
I often encourage the participation of parents/caregivers in the treatment of my clients when deemed appropriate. I believe that experiences are processed in a much deeper, more meaningful way when shared with an individual whom the client is emotionally connected to.
