Choosing to begin therapy shows incredible inner strength. Difficult situations can be managed with the strength of the individual along with the help of an external support system. My goal is to be a part of that support network and to cultivate a safe and supportive environment where we can identify, explore, and work through challenging issues. I work with clients towards change in areas including depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, self - esteem, trauma, and life transitions.
I believe that people develop patterns from the past that influence current experiences and relationships. Sometimes these patterns can impact our ability to find joy or to connect with others. A successful therapeutic relationship can help uncover patterns that are causing problems and can offer clients different ways of relating.
I use a psychodynamic approach to explore and understand unhealthy patterns and incorporate a cognitive-behavioral component to help undo those negative patterns. I also integrate a mindfulness perspective focusing on the "here and now". Clients see me as non-judgmental, empathic, and active in their quest for growth.
