My goal as an LCSW counselor is to help you find direction in your life and learn to connect with your own unique passions and strengths. I believe that effective and empowering counseling can help you get "unstuck" and reach your full potential. This may mean helping you to change self-defeating behaviors into more proactive behaviors. Therapy can help you face the underlying causes of long-term depression, anxiety, or PTSD, and thereby help you decrease in your symptoms. I am passionate and committed about my work as a counselor in helping people move through painful and traumatic experiences.
I specialize in helping people who live with diagnoses of depression, anxiety and PTSD make connections between earlier or recent traumas in their lives and their current symptoms. For this purpose, I find that EMDR therapy often helps decrease the impact of traumas while increasing positive functioning in the present.
As a male therapist I find that adolescents and men, who are often not comfortable talking about their feelings and problems, are willing to open up to me since I can identify with their challenges. It gives me great satisfaction to be a part of their change and growth process.
