We all have an internal pressure cooker that holds strong feelings and repressed emotions. This is especially true with today’s adolescents and teenagers. When anxiety, fear, depression, and outside stressors fill their barometer up, they reach a boiling point of eruption that plays out in extreme anger, defiance, substance abuse, addictions to social media and screens, overeating, and other destructive behaviors.
I assist teens in emptying out that barometer, give them my full attention, without judgment. I coach them in what I know works using evidence-based interventions such as EMDR, DBT, and CBT.
I also enjoy connecting with clients through creative outlets like art, music, mindfulness, breathing exercises, therapeutic games that bring self-awareness and distress tolerance skills to help regulate emotion.
