The client is the expert on their life, and I believe in the collaborative nature of the therapeutic alliance between the client and therapist. As a team, we will come up with interventions to change the process and patterns of the way you think, feel, and behave. In my thousands of hours in the field, I have witnessed countless clients improve using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through an informed trial-and-error process. CBT has the most evidence-based research validating its efficacy and presumes that the mind, body, and social environment are connected in a very sensitive ecosystem.
if you want different results, you must be willing to take different actions. I am constantly presenting new perspectives to my clients in a process called reframing. It’s not so much what happens to us but how we perceive what happens to us. I've found that clients open to considering new perspectives better cope with distress and make better progress.
I have a BS in Sociology from The University of Houston and an MA in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. I have worked in the mental health field providing group and individual counseling in Private Practice, Substance Abuse Recovery Facilities, a Pain Management Center, a Psychiatric Hospital, and a Residential Treatment Facility.
