Often, the decision to seek professional help for oneself or a loved one is not an easy one but one that reaps tremendous rewards. I take a holistic approach to my work and believe that capitalizing on a client's strengths is a significant component to successful treatment, as is the therapeutic relationship and trust that one has with their therapist. I work collaboratively with other professionals who may be involved, such as school personnel, psychiatrists, and medical doctors, especially if medication is involved.
In working with individuals and families I have seen a significant rise in anxiety-related disorders. I believe in a two pronged approach when working with anxiety, which includes symptom reduction followed by addressing the root cause(s) in order to maintain an improvement in functioning over the long term.
I specialize in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders, self esteem issues, relational issues, self injurious behaviors, and emotional disturbances. I work closely with parents, offering support around navigating their child's stages of adolescence. I also run groups for adults and teenagers that target specific issues listed above.
