Did you experience a recent traumatic event, like a frightening car accident or sudden death of a loved one. Were you raised in a chaotic or abusive home. Unresolved trauma can lead to flashbacks, a sense of being disconnected from others, mood swing. Some survivors of trauma feel like they are always waiting for the other shoe to drop or like they always have to have their guard up around others. If you have felt trapped by your past trauma or even beyond repair because of the traumatic life experiences you have endured then I can help. I am passionate about helping people resolve trauma so they can live a life full of meaning.
I specialize in treating PTSD and using a technique called EMDR. Research has proven EMDR to be one of a very few effective treatments for Trauma. PTSD typically does not resolve through talk therapy alone. Trauma is stored in the "fight or flight" part of our brain. Once that response is triggered it is difficult to shut it down. EMDR calms that response.
